I have watched many men kneel and pray.

Beg, plead, and ask for so many things.

Yet they walk through life defeated,

Always perplexed by their vision of

Asking but never recieving.

Am I not loved?

Am I not good enough?

Self-esteem begins the journey to depletion,

Value, along with it, is constantly questioned.

Faith becomes hollow,

Prayers begin to feel tedious and empty.

These men are on the road of the non-believing.

I’ve seen fallen men broken and crying,

Speak words into thin air,

Candidly to a higher being,

They had no knowledge of existing.

Ready to surrender, ready to listen, and see.

In their hearts is a willingness

Words echoing with a rare genuinity.

Expectations replaced with appreciation.

These men have a different kind of vision.

Not looking in the past nor to far ahead.

Mindfully in the moment,

Answered prayers become easily noticed.

In the same church one man loses his fath,

Another walks away wearing smile across his face.

You see, the world we live in

Only exists as we pervceive it

Man’s happiness is that of his own choosing.

Two people can come from the same path,

Exact same resources, desires and needs.

Yet we watch them live out two very different stories.

How can that be?

It’s all in the way you choose to see.

Reality is only as joyful as you allow it to be.
